The Lituanistika database is created on the basis of the projects supported by the European Structural Funds. Four projects have been prepared since 2006. Although the main objectives and principles for the development of the database remain unchanged, different activities provided for each project are emphasised. In the first project focused on the scientific reasoning of database design principles, objectives, targets, the selection and implementation of information system, as well as the initial contents of the database. The second project aimed at consolidating researchers’ abilities. The third project concerns the development of the database in particular, dissemination of Lithuanian Studies, integration into other information systems, attempts to validate a database, a survey and trainings of users of the Humanities and Social sciences.
The current fourth project (2016-2019) continues with the development of the researcher abilities, the expansion of the information system of Lituanistika database, its adaptation to science policy needs and development of modern means allowing the publications of Lithuanian Studies to enter national and international academic space.
